The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City is located in the first ward. First Ward lies directly to the east of the intersection of Trade and Tryon. It is that quadrant bounded by North Tryon on the northwest and East Trade on the southwest. Many new developments are planned and under construction including the recent addition of Google Fiber and opening of First Ward Park. Other projects forthcoming in the immediate future that will surround The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City include an apartment complex, dual-branded hotel, and office building along with dining facilities and retail spaces. Current attractions nearby include: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library, the Spirit Square portion of the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, ImaginOn, a children’s Learning Center, Levine Museum of the New South, and Spectrum Center, home of the professional NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets.
